Features Tipitaka

App for reading the Theravada Buddhist Pali Tipitaka, commentaries, and sub-commentaries in Pali.
It is suitable for advanced students of the Pali language, as it does not include English translations.
It does have several Pali English dictionaries. Dhamma-based applications complete with devotional and special parittas and their translations, tripitics in Indonesian as well as articles on Buddhism are easy to read.
Tripiᚭaka meaning "Triple Basket" is the traditional term for ancient collections of Buddhist scriptures.
Tripiᚭaka has become Buddhist scripture synonymous used for many schools collections, although their general divisions do not match a strict division into three piᚭakas. The Tripiᚭaka is composed of three main categories of texts that collectively constitute the Buddhist canon: the Sutra Piᚭaka, the Vinaya Piᚭaka, and the Abhidhamma Piᚭaka. The Sōtra Piᚭaka is older than the Vinaya Piᚭaka, and the Abhidharma Piᚭaka represents a later tradition of scholastic analysis and systematization of the contents of the Sutta Piᚭaka originating at least two centuries after the other two parts of the canon.
The Vinaya Piᚭaka appears to have grown gradually as a commentary and justification of the monastic code (Prātimokᚣa), which presupposes a transition from a community of wandering mendicants (the Sōtra Piᚭaka period ) to a more sedentary monastic community (the Vinaya Piᚭaka period).
Even within the Sōtra Piᚭaka it is possible to detect older and later texts.
